Attraction signage at Jewel Changi Airport Canopy Park activated by Pico Singapore won the iF Design Award in the Communication discipline - Signage category.
The signage system - including attraction signs, ticketing kiosks and safety signs - created by the team was simultaneously functional and aesthetically pleasing. Called ‘The Gems in the Jewel Box’, the design envisaged a series of precious gems that visitors could find within the mall – based on the rationale that people’s innate attraction to sparkly things makes for inspired signage.
Organized by the world’s oldest independent design organization, Hannover-based iF international Forum Design GmbH, the iF Design Award has a reputation as an internationally recognised sign of design excellence since its founding in 1953.
The project won over the 78-member jury, made up of independent experts from all over the world. This year, the competition was intense with nearly 7,300 entries were submitted from 56 countries. Winning projects received the seal of quality by passing the established criteria, including aesthetics, functionality, innovation and elaboration, positioning and responsibility.
